Message from the Director

Welcome to the Fall Quarter at Martinez Adult Education

Suzanne Murphy, DirectorMartinez Adult Education has been serving the Martinez community and surrounding areas for 100 years. This is very inspiring to me and speaks to the value and needs of adult education in our communities.  We are here to serve and provide quality education and career training to all who come through our doors. There are some exciting new changes and additions to our course offerings this year and additional support services for our community.

In our career training, we are bringing back the Optical Assistant Training Program, taught by Suzy Tendick. This was a thriving program in years past, and we now have the funding to bring it back to our school. There are a wealth of job opportunities in this field all over Contra Costa County and we are looking forward to the class starting in the fall. We will be adding to our POST (Peace Officers Standard & Training) program by adding a dispatching course, for those interested in pursuing a career in dispatching. In addition, we have secured the ability for our students taking POST Module II and Module III, the ability to receive college credit.

This August, Martinez Adult Education will become an affiliate location for the AJCC, America’s Job Center of California. We will be able to serve those in the
community needing these services, which include education and training through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. For more
information on this, please contact our main office 925-335-5890. In addition, we will be offering the HISET, (High School Equivalency test) testing at our school, look for days and times in the brochure.

As always, we work with those needing to complete their high school diploma, study and pass the GED or HISET or acquire English Language Skills. We are here to help you achieve your goals with an emphasis on providing quality education and career training that leads to high-wage, sustainable employment.
The community needs are of the highest priority to our staff. We are here to serve. Whether you are a student or someone needing to find out resources available in the community, please come in or call.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Murphy, Director
